Mesh Fence for F1 Track - High Security Fence Supplier
A new advanced mesh fence system may soon be installed at the F1 track, with the FIA having approved a design that is safer and better for fans.
For trackside spectators, the reduction in column requirements will be an added bonus, as this will provide greater visibility of track activity.
Most mesh fence has a 4m spacing between steel posts, but this new design has been approved to allow a 6m gap without compromising the safety function of the fence.
In fact, fewer guardrails actually provide a higher level of safety for open cockpits and motorcyclists because if they end up hitting a guardrail, they are less likely to hit it.
The new design also offers sustainability advantages compared to previous solutions, as it requires fewer shipping containers to transport. It also doesn't require as many concrete pile foundation points, which increases installation speed.
The mesh fence has just been approved by the FIA and will be installed on the Grade 1 circuit, the highest level of safety a circuit must achieve if it is to host F1 races.
By increasing the cable diameter by 16mm, combined with high-strength helical wires connecting the cables to the grid, the spacing between fence posts can be increased.
The mesh fencing has been extensively tested, including testing its effectiveness in 150km/h impacts using a full-size car.
